But it's the "communism only failed because a) Capitalist imperialism and counterinsurgencies and b) the USSR feeling the need to achieve military parity with the US (which is somehow the US' fault), c) Communist systems trying to incorporate parts of capitalism and being taken over by them. The tone is very much anti-American, anti-capitalist, which in and of itself I don't mind.
I guess I am a product of the capitalist, anti-communist brainwashing the author talks about, because there are a LOT of things where I just go "that doesn't seem right." I am reading it now and am running into a few things that I hope people here can help me with.īasically I want to know if anything in the book is true. I recently bought Blackshirts and Reds by Michael Parenti as I must have seen it mentioned somewhere and it sounded interesting and it had a high rating on Amazon.
